A New Beginning in Downtown Gainesville
After a successful run in downtown Flowery Branch, Moe’s Record Shop has found a new home on Bradford Street in Gainesville. Moe made the move after Joey Summer, the co-owner of Imperial Records, reached out with an opportunity to take over the prime downtown spot. “I knew the foot traffic would be great,” Moe shared, and the new location has already proven to be a hit.
The shop initially opened its doors on weekends but has since expanded hours to 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Moe is excited about the change, saying, “It’s been awesome since I’ve been up here. It’s just exciting being in Gainesville.”
A Treasure Trove of Vinyl
Moe’s Record Shop offers thousands of used and new vinyl records, drawing from Moe’s personal collection, which he has curated over decades in anticipation of his retirement business. The store’s diverse selection spans genres like pop, rock, alternative, country, bluegrass, and more, catering to music lovers of all tastes.
In addition to selling records, Moe’s welcomes customers looking to sell or trade their vinyl, making it a hub for collectors and enthusiasts. Moe personally inspects each record to ensure quality, maintaining the shop’s reputation for excellence.
Moe’s Musical Journey
Moe’s passion for music extends beyond the shop. Since 2004, he has hosted shows on 89.1 WBCX Gainesville, Brenau’s student radio station, including jazz nights on Fridays and Saturdays. His love for music across genres is reflected in the shop’s eclectic inventory.
Building Community Through Music
For Moe, the shop is more than a business—it’s a way to connect with the community. “Business is going real well,” he said. “I’m meeting new people that didn’t come to Flowery Branch and just talking music with people.” The downtown Gainesville location has already brought a fresh wave of customers eager to discover the joy of vinyl.
